Are There Ghosts, or Just Skeletons In The Closet

I found an interesting article while cruising through old issues of the BYU Idaho’s predecessor, “Student Rays” from 1929.  I’ll write it down word for word, while still providing the image for proof of reality.  Remember, this is a church school.  I think it would be a little tighter getting this through the editing process today.

ARE THERE GHOSTS.

Yes.  Leave it to the Dormitory

girls; they can tell you.  Can it

be anything else–When your door

opens, a white hand appears, turns

out the light, and then disappears?

Aw! then when you have revived

enough to turn on the light again,

you find a note that says: “Beware!

Your days are numbered!  P.S.

Meet me tonight at twelve o’clock.

–Klu Klux Klan!

Girls, lock your doors before 12 o’clock.

Can you help me understand this odd article?  Upon reading the page which contained this… story, I found I could hardly understand writing styles of 1929.  It’s much easier to study scriptures translated hundreds of years prior to this.  So, post it up… what was the “Student Ray” trying to say?
