I’m here in Rexburg after an 8-month hiatus from my life in the Sonoran Desert. I think it’s Rexburg. It may be Seattle. When and if the sun comes out I’ll be able to better identify the landscape.

On the drive here we camped for the weekend near Logan, Utah. It rained the majority of the time. We did have a few hours of what you might call patchy sunny skies, but they were quickly choked out by those persistent clouds. Then it rained most of the drive here on Sunday.

I always have a problem packing for Idaho as this unpredictability of the weather is, well, predictable. We definitely did not pack enough long-sleeved items for this kind of weather. It was 49 degrees when we woke up this morning. I packed for weather conducive to reading in the
hammock while the kids slip-and-slide. Good thing I brought footie jammies for the baby.

The twelve-year-old that does the weather on the local news told us this month, June, is the wettest month on record since August of 1968. And there’s still a week of June left! My father-in-law had a great idea: maybe we should have a community fast for sunshine.
