Back in January of this year I reviewed the Craigo’s Pizzeria in Rexburg, Idaho. Conclusions? The current Craigo’s isn’t like my memories of the old college dive, but everyone (including my family), enjoys Craigo’s as a good place to eat and a foundation of Rexburg.  Now I have another opportunity to try it out, but on my own turf.

A co-worker informed me today that the owners of Craigo’s are fully renovating and opening “Pizza Pie Cafe,” a restaurant in Provo, Utah at 2235 N. University Parkway, next to Albertsons and Brent Brown Chevrolet. As soon as he informed me a piece of Rexburg is moving to Provo I knew I needed to swing by on my way home from work.

As luck would have it I arrived as one of the owners was pulling up. Scott Gneiting was very kind and informative about the opening and even invited me inside the building to take a look around and learn more about the restaurant.

Only a guy would design a TV above a urinal! Ha! That is hilarious! I hope my husband doesn’t see this. . . he might want a flat screen in our bathroom!

  • jennaloha says:

They better have television in the women’s bathroom too- After all at least we women get to sit when we watch it.

  • Dallan says:

I didn’t go in but he said the women will have a sign saying the men are watching sports in their bathroom. I’m not sure if he was joking. I’ll send my wife in to investigate.

Where? and When may apply for a job at the Provo Location?

  • Slade says:

They were nice to let me in the VIP soft-opening on saturday. I was very impressed by how nice they were and how delicious everything tasted. By far the best quality buffet food in the area. The best value for the money, and the best dessert pizza in existence. They are doing so many things right, I would be afraid to be a competitor with these guys. I will refer many people to this place and visit often.

Does anyone have the phone number??

Does anyone have the phone number??

  • I don’t at this time. Sorry.

  • Kirsten says:

The phone number to Pizza Pie Cafe in Provo is (801)373-5561.

Being the proud president of the Facebook Pizza Group of Rexburg I am happy to hear that this distinguished establishment that began here is spreading across this wonderful nation. May the blessings that come from this pizza extend to others in less fortunate areas.

  • nom says:

I’m heading there for lunch. I just wish they would have used the name craigo’s somewhere. It’d be a nice connection to the land of my nativity.

  • Austin says:

Hey, this place its Awesome! I’ve never seen such cool pizzas and the dessert pizzas! wow some many different types! I mean i didnt know where possible, its a cool and fun place to chill and have fun, maybe I’ll go there for an after game party!

  • John says:

I just came from the restaurant and it was really bad. The food was super bland, it was way over crowded and the management just seemed happy that people were there but no one cared that there was a massive line to get more pizza (which was tasteless). Papa johns (or Little Caesars) is 10x better.

  • That’s too bad. I hope they fix the supply problem. Nobody likes to wait around for food.

  • Kraig says:

I want pizza! I work at BYU and when I drove by the Pizza Pie Cafe location I was quickly reminded of my family’s trip to Rexburg for my boy’s baseball tournament and we ate at Craigo’s. We LOVED the pizza there and have often talked about wanting to go back to Rexburg for Craigo’s. So I was very happy to see this new opening and quickly informed my family. We will be going there soon!

  • Dallan Wright says:

Just went (Friday at 1pm) and there were no problems with waiting for pizza or pasta. It wasn’t because there weren’t people there (we had to sit in the far away large party seating). I can chalk up another enjoyable visit although now I feel sleepy at work.

  • Spencer says:

I want pizza! I’ve never been to Idaho or heard of Craigos but took a friend to Pizza Pie Cafe tonight and she said it was a perfect choice. They had good service and then when we left, since it was closing, they gave us four pizzas to take home! I shared the love with a couple apartments and told them to stop by sometime. I’ll definitely be back.

  • Matt Smith says:

I want to thank you all for coming in. Our first week went very well. We did have some problems on Wednesday night. The night John went in. We sent a text message to around 800 college students for a late night special after 8pm. It was packed. We learned some new things about our setup and how we can improve. I tore the oven apart on Saturday morning and made some changes to the bake system. I feel the pizza being served now is really good. Thanks again for all the comments. We do listen and hope to make the experience at our restaurants the best they can be.

  • Steve says:

I don’t know why everyone is so impressed with this joint. The food is sub-par at best and the place seems geared towards the elementary students in the area, not the college students. Go see for yourself what I am talking about.

  • You’re mistaken. Name one thing that caters to elementary students. Food possibly? Soda? Bathrooms? Great place for families, college students, and even lone wolfs.

  • J Corpany says:

Craigo’s is the best pizza place in Rexburg and now it’s the best pizza place in Provo! We love the food and the atmosphere and can’t get enough of it! Keep up the great work guys!

  • Duken says:

Craigo’s Pizza is great for Rexburg. So many great memories there…It was a good thought to take it to Provo, but they should have kept the Craigo’s Pizza name.

They neglected to do their homework in commercial real estate in the Provo area. That building is tainted with a history of restaurants that come and go (Garcia’s & Tony Romas). Breaking a trend like that is usually only possible by demolition and rebuilding followed by a heavy marketing plan. Word-of-mouth alone won’t do it. Best of luck!

  • Ammon says:

Duken, don’t be so quick with your assessment about them moving into a “cursed” building. They did the same thing in Rexburg where several other establishments failed, and they are still doing great.

  • Susan Sommer says:

I have personally dealt with Matt and Jane at Craigo’s in Rexburg for the last several years. While working at a local large business, several times we had them cater meals for us and not once was a meal delivered cold or were they or their help anything but cordial – not to mention getting praises about their ‘dessert pizzas’ (who would of “thunk” they would become so popular). Since those first few years of their opening, I believe they stopped catering so much – however, me and my entire family continue to frequent their Rexburg AND Idaho Falls stores. We, especially, love their “Pasta Bar” – which hasn’t been mentioned among the many comments. Hopefully, their new store in Utah carries the “Pasta Bar” as it does in Rexburg and Idaho Falls. WE LOVE YOUR FOOD and WISH YOU THE BEST, MATT AND JANE!

  • Jessica says:

From what I can tell, this is definitely high quality pizza, pasta, and don’t get me started on how good the salad is! The students working there were very friendly, but the managers here are absolutely atrocious! They spent more time rolling in conceit, just happy about the amount of people in the restaurant and not the specific customer’s experience. I may be mistaken, but I think I spoke with Jeffrey and Cory. They were both extremely rude and I felt like they didn’t even care about my situation. I would give this place a 1, because even if they can make good food, one bad experience will never bring me back.
