REXBURG BUSINESS: Dry Cleaned and Bottled at the D&L
A building with a car wash on one end and a dance club on the other? Rexburg likes stuff like that. It’s very utilitarian. Don’t waste space, for heaven’s sake. D&L Cleaners decided to capitalize on some empty space inside their front doors. My favorite gift Christmas morning actually was purchased from a table inside that very dry cleaners: A bottle of chokecherry syrup. Thanks, Mom! Our traditional Christmas pancakes were delectable this year.
I called the D&L to ask for ordering info, seeing’s how a 12 oz bottle of homemade syrup doesn’t last long around a three-year-old who insists on smothering her hotcakes without help. The rationing system I had nstalled failed sadly; after two grand slams, we were out of the heavenly nectar.
It’s the owner’s mother who makes the syrup at her home using locally grown chokecherries. She was unavailable for questions, but the front desk said she believed the chokecherries were even from her own backyard.
Rexburbia, if you are looking for a homemade, unique gift for someone (Valentine’s Day is a month away: great for breakfast in bed!) head on over to the dry cleaners for syrup. It’s $8 for an 8 oz bottle and $10 for a 12 oz bottle. If you also have a three-year-old in your home you can pre-order a 16-32 oz jar that will be ready for you in three days.
Carwash/Dance Club, Dry Cleaner/Cannery. What will I find next in my quirky hometown?
